Horizontal Alignment
The roadway horizontal alignment is a series of horizontal tangents (straight roadway sections), circular curves, and spiral transitions. It shows the proposed roadway location in relation to the existing terrain and adjacent land conditions.
Both MicroStation and InRoads are used to create Horizontal Alignment. MicroStation is mainly used when creating the design elements of roads such as lines and curves while InRoads is used to create Horizontal Alignment of a road using the design elements created in MicroStation.
In other words, both MicroStation and InRoads work hand and hand and should be used simultaneously when creating horizontal alignments.
